

James was born in Kansas and grew up in Topeka as the son of a newspaper man.
Jim joined the Navy when he was 17, and served for 24 years before retiring. His last assignment was an instructor for the Naval Nuclear Weapons Training Center of the Pacific. He then joined the civil service for 20 more years before retiring for the final time.
He is survived by his wife, Carol with whom he was married to for 58 years. He is also survived by his 4 children, Bill, Dan, Kathy, and Debra; his 6 grand-children, Melyssa, Mat, James, Sean, Monica and Ciara; and his 10 great grand-children, Nieko, Kayla, Jeremiah, Bella, Blake, Miacah, Anthony, Aurora, Mat Jr. and Jacob.
His memorial service will be held at Concordia Church, 1695 Discovery Falls Drive, Chula Vista on March 7th at 11am where he once served as Elder and President and he will be laid to rest at Miramar Naval Station with a military service on March 16th at 11am. The bag piper will play James' favorite song "Amazing Grace."
