Joanne was born in Alhambra, California and attended Alhambra High School. She married James Allan MacDonald in 1958 and moved to Concord, California. In 1973 they moved to San Diego and open the first Round Table Pizza in 1974. Joanne oversaw the operations of 13 family owned and operated pizza restaurants for many years. She touched so many people that either worked for her or befriended her through the business.
In 1983 Joanne lost her eldest son, Scott to cancer at the young age of 24. She spent the remainder of her healthy years raising money for the Scott MacDonald Memorial Fund which built and improved ball fields through out San Diego's East County. She was also very involved in the San Diego Chapter of the Scleroderma Society.
She was truly the most sincere, genuine and loving person one could ever hope to meet and she was Momma Saint Joanne to many who knew her and loved her.
Joanne is survived by her husband Jim, son Craig, daughter-in-law Carole, grandson Tommy, sister Judy, sisters-in-law Marilyn and June, plus many nieces and nephews she loved so much.
A Celebration of Life will be held on February 6 from 3:00pm to 5:00pm in the event pavilion at Cottonwood Golf Course: 3121 Willow Glen Drive, El Cajon, CA. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to the Scleroderma Foundation of Southern California at:
