John Henry Varnell Jr., 90, of Chula Vista, California passed away on Wednesday, March 31, 2021.

He was bornin Charleston, Tennessee June 19, 1930. John enlisted in the US Navy at the age of 17 and was enlisted for 8 yrs as a gunners mate.

He was married to Betty June Varnell on May 31, 1953. John worked as truck driver for R.C.P aerospace manufacturing for the US Navy.

He was a member of The Country Church of Chula Vista, CA, and had a passion for playing his guitar and singing all over town.

He was survived by his wife Betty June Varnell, two sons James S. Varnell (Dayne) of Chula Vista, CA, Gary L. Varnell ( Donna) of Rio Verde, Arizona and 4 grandchildren Brandon Blake Varnell of Scottsdale, Arizona, Amber L. McClendon(Tyler), Boyce Varnell of Cleveland, Tennessee, Ashley Schaefer, Steven Schaefer of Oregon A memorial service for John will be held Wednesday, April 7, 2021 from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Funeraria del Angel Chula Vista, 753 Broadway, Chula Vista, CA 91910. A funeral service will occur Thursday, April 8, 2021 from 9:00 AM 753 Broadway, Chula Vista, CA 91910. Final Resting Place at Glen Abbey Memorial Park in Bonita, CA

John made me smile and I loved his music! He made a tape for me of him singing his country western songs, which I played over and over during my RVing days. I hold his precious wife Betty deep in my heart and prayers...I send you my love, Betty,..and I send you my smiling memories of John.
