Jose (Michael) Montano, 70, passed away peacefully August 6, 2019 with his loving family by his side in San Diego, California- originally from La Jara, Colorado. At the age of 17 he enlisted in the Navy and served for 21 years, which included 3 tours in Vietnam. He married Rosenda Agnes who passed away in 1989. He later married Libbie Kronstedt then spent the remainder of his life with his love, Cathleen Aparicio.

Survivors include his daughters Gentry (Andy) Guinn, Wisconsin, Sonia (Randy) Santos, Texas, Michelle (Louis) Pedroza, California, Jesse Montano, Colorado; grandchildren: Bethany Fryman, Wisconsin, Anthony Guinn, Wisconsin, Cristian and Noah Santos, Texas, Maya and Ezra Pedroza, California; great grandchild: Alex Guinn, Wisconsin; sisters Evelyn (Irene) Montano, Utah, Sylvia Montano, Colorado, Maria Consuelo (Daniel) Valdez, Colorado, Rachel Favela, Colorado; brother Nestor Montano, Colorado along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by parents Alfonzo and Ruby Montano; grandparents Nestor and Tonita Montano, Jose Domingo (JD) and Raquel Quintana; siblings Consuelo Mares, Antonia Martinez, Lafayette (Joe) Montano, Edward Montano, Alfonzo Montano, Victor Montano and baby sister Raquel Montano.

A viewing will be held on Wednesday, August 14, 2019 from 3:00pm-11:00pm with a Celebration of Life at 7:00pm at Funeraria Del Angel Chula Vista Funeral Home, 753 Broadway, Chula Vista, CA 91910. A graveside service will be held at La Jara Cemetery, Co on Saturday, August 17, 2019 @ 1:00 pm with a viewing beforehand from 9am-12pm.
