Joseph James Vega, affectionately known as Joe and lovingly called JoJo by his family, passed away on August 9, 2026, at the age of 40. He was born on August 14, 1985, by his loving mother Elizabeth Laird. Joe was a loving father to his son, Daniel Vega, and his daughter, Jessa Vega whom held a special place in his heart.
Joe was an extremely hardworking, honest, selfless and a generous man. Family meant everything to him, he was protective over his loved ones and never hesitated to help when it was needed.
Joe was the kind of person you could always count on. A skilled and talented handyman, when his sisters and family needed him he could fix anything from their cars or their washing machines and never asked for anything in return. Not only did he work hard at home, but he also dedicated approximately 19 years of his life to Sysco, showing the determination and work ethic that defined him.
Outside of work, Joe found joy in playing softball, he made many friends on and off the field. He especially loved riding his bike down by the beach, listening to Islander jams, and taking in the sunset. Those moments captured the simple pleasures that made him happy.
Joe had recently started running, hiking, and mountain biking, finding new ways to enjoy the outdoors. He loved to have a good time, whether that meant having a drink, going to a party, dancing, or simply being surrounded by the people he loved.
“Uncle Jojo” knew how to get a party going. His nieces and nephews recognized the laughter, love, and a sense of togetherness that he brought wherever he went. Continuously making memories that will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him.
Though his time with us was far too short, Joe’s memory will live on through his children, his family, and everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
As the sun sets each evening, we will remember Joe riding his bike along the beach, listening to his Islander jams on his speaker, and appreciate the light he brought into our lives.
Joseph James Vega, our beloved Joe, our JoJo, you will forever be loved, forever missed, and forever remembered.
Rest peacefully Joe .
