He is survived by three children, Janet M. Ziel, James Ziel, and Adam Leroy Ziel. He was predeceased by his spouse, Louise R. Ziel.
Joseph will be laid to rest next to Louise at Ft. Rosecrans National Cemetery in San Diego, California.
