I was telling my daughter Rena when she called about Mr. Vegas passing, that I had had him on my mind the last week. Les, I and Brian wish to pass our condolences on Mr. Vegas passing as he was a wonderful man and a real example to our sons who grew up at Park View Little League. Our prayers are with the family at this time. Our deepest condolences. He may be gone but will never be forgotten!

I did not get to meet Mr. Vega but my son Rafael who is a WWII history fanatic did.  Mr. Vega took the time to tell my son stories & share memories of his time in service to our country.  The experience was amazing & I will forever be thankful to Mr. Vega & Frank.  My thoughts & prayers to his family.

I always admired Laro for his service in WWII and his efforts to keep the old neighborhood connected. Rest in peace, you will be missed by  "OLD TOWN".

Thank you Lauro for your bravery in serving our country. He always spoke proudly of his accomplishments. I considered Lauro like a brother. He knew a lot of my ancestry since he knew my parents who also lived in National City. I especially enjoyed the time spent in his company at the “Old Timers” breakfast. It's hard to loose someone special who is so loved. Lauro is in God's throne now. My family relocated from Texas to San Diego in the 60's. My dad,Gonzalo, and Lauro served in the Army Infantry together. They reunited once we settled in S.D. I always appreciated how he recaptured the experiences he and my dad shared serving their country, which included being a part of D-day and the Battle of Normandy. He is one of the Latin comrades that survived a cruel war at a young age. 
Lauro was a man of dignity and humility and will be remembered in my heart.

Frank you told me many stories about your dad and from that I know he was a GREAT MAN...

I met Mr. Vega during my Park View Little League days over 20 years ago, he was a true gentleman and was always friendly and encouraging. With deep regret to the Vega Family. Thank you Mr. Vega for your service to your country.

My uncle Lauro gee what more can be said about him but that he was such a GREAT MAN. I remember him always telling us kids war stories (of course with a beer in his hand, lol). I can say he was always one of my favorite persons to see at the family picnics. You will truely be missed uncle Lauro.

Lauro Vega is one of the many brave young men who fought bravely against the tyranny of Hitler to liberate millions and to protect our freedom. He returned to become part of the "Greatest Generation" that expected nothing in return yet continued to serve family and community with dignity and humility. Thank you, Lauro. You are in God's arms now.

I have lots of fond memories of Mr. Vega.  The one the sticks out the most is when Justin was born he was telling me about having red heads in the family.  I just laugh it off thinking but Justin has dark brown hair?  Sure enough Justin would turn around have and have a red hair child Mikaila.  He was a huge fan of Justin and attended all his high school football/baseball games.  He will be missed by all.  Our deepest sympathies, thoughts and prayers to the Vega family.

I only knew Lauro for a little over a year, but he always made my wife and I feel very loved and welcome when we were in his presence. I will always remember fondly sitting close to him, and listening to his stories of WWII. My thoughts and prayers will be with the Vega family. "Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his faithful servants." (Psalm 116:15)

I too very fondly remember the summer nights when we would set up the tent in the back yard and camp out. Mr. Vega was always a friend to us as youth's and was a great role model, always kind and was a man we all respected. He will be missed by all. My prayers are with his family.

I will never forget those 'camp outs' in the back yard, and horse shoes, and Mr & Mrs Vega always making sure we were okay. Blessings & Love Out 2 U All!

Lauro was such a fixture to the neighborhood and will be missed by all. I will miss giving him tomatoes for his tomato sandwiches. And as Al would say, "Hey Lauro, don't worry about it!"
