CAMBELL, LAURSEL R. Laursel Rose Cambell, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away on August 22. Born in Kearny, New Jersey, May 8, 1931 (nee Rose Irene Lutz), Laursel moved to California in 1959, when she married Charles C. Campbell. She joined the family business -- the Triple C Egg Ranch (first in Lemon Grove and later in Japatul Valley), had three children and lived in Alpine for many happy years. Laursel loved the life of a full-time mother and she always had room in her heart and at the table for any stray children who found their way into her home. Life took many interesting turns and like many women of her generation, in the mid 1970’s Laursel found herself suddenly a single, working mother with teenagers. True to her character, she embraced the challenge with grace and determination and returned to a career as a legal secretary. Laursel had many interests including metaphysics, numerology, and Buddhism. Her practice was reflected in her calm and gentle nature. She studied extensively and became a Minister of Metaphysics. Her other great passions involved music and books and she was a devoted volunteer at the Friends of La Mesa Library Bookstore. Her generous spirit, ready smile, dry sense of humor and enduring friendship will be missed by her family, friends and her many loyal customers at the bookstore.
Laursel’s love as a mother and grandmother was boundless and once you joined the family (by marriage or otherwise) she made no distinction – you were one of her children and in that spirit, Laursel is survived by her daughters Laura, Cameron, Esther, and Elia; her sons David, Nick and Steve; her grandchildren Danny and Natalie; and her sister Margaret.
At the request of Laursel Cambell there will be no memorial service and in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Friends of La Mesa Library Bookstore, 8074 Allison Ave, La Mesa, CA 91942.
