Mami graduated from Seian College in Kyoto, with an Associate’s degree in Graphic Design. She worked as a Japanese obi designer for 2 years, until her marriage to Shinji Okamura, whom she had met during her years at Seian College. They married November 12, 1983, and have been married for 33 years.
Mami had a playful, vibrant energy that was infectious to those around her. She loved to explore, laugh, and play pranks (especially on her husband). She was the life of the Okamura family. She was also a sensitive and deeply caring person, often placing others’ needs and wants before hers.
Mami had a passion for the arts, pottery, jewelry making, and crafting. She was a true artist – she never ceased to channel her creative energy; her works and projects can be seen all over the house – quite literally.
She was survived by her husband Shinji; her three daughters, Mizuki, Kazuki, and Natsuki; and her older brother, Shingo Kondo. She will be missed dearly.
A viewing will be held at Funeraria Del Angel Humphrey on Tuesday, November 29, 2016 starting at 3:00 p.m. with a Shinto Ritual Service starting at 5:00 p.m. Refreshments will be served at conclusion of service in the El Cortez Room.
