

Mark Leon Durant passed away peacefully on Friday, February 12, 2016 at the age of 89. Mark was born in Wichita, Kansas on January 5, 1927. After spending his childhood in Kansas and San Diego, Mark served in the Army at the end of WWII. He married Marilyn on June 29, 1953 and moved his family to San Diego in 1958. Mark worked in the aerospace and engineering industry throughout his career and contributed to the development and construction of antennae in California and Hawaii. Later in his career, Mark worked in Toulouse, France and travelled through Europe with Marilyn. Mark lived for the past 56 years in Chula Vista. He was part of the building of the Chula Vista Little League fields and loved coaching youth baseball. San Diego was a city he truly loved. Car trips throughout the West and Northwest were always favorite vacations and his sense of adventure was passed on to his children and randchildren.
Mark was always there for his family and neighbors and was a kind, accepting, and generous man who always treated others with respect and love. He is survived by his wife Marilyn, his five children, Randy, Melissa, Jack, Michele, and Melanie, 10 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren, all of whom meant everything to him.
Mark Durant will be missed by all those who knew and loved him.
