Mary Louise Loeschner lived in San Diego County her whole life and passed on peacefully in her sleep, at home in El Cajon, on Saturday morning, 3/24/2012. She and her husband, Frank, were married 50 years and they have one daughter, Susanne, who designs and sells jewelry in Michigan.
Mary Lou was an intrepid traveler. In 1976, she road her bicycle across the US with Bike Centennial and, in 1986, with her husband, Frank, bicycled from San Diego to New York and on to Florida before continuing around the world for several years. Using various means of transportation they visited 100 countries and all the continents.
She loved hiking, too, and walked their dog for many miles each day. She and her husband hiked in the Sierras several times - once from Mammoth to Yosemite and back, in six days.
Homemaking and decorating were important to her. Frank could hear the “tap-tap-tap” of her hammer at all hours as she put up pictures in each of the four homes they built. He jokingly said she probably put up 500 pictures. She counted and said it was 850.
With a Masters Degree in Education, she taught second grade, early in their marriage. She was a member of the Christian Science Church, Alpha Gama Delta sorority, PEO, and Red Hats.
