Mil was brother to us (Reuben, Ralph & Raul Vicente) from 1974 to 1977 when he lived at the end of Lauriston Drive. Our childhood activities include every sport & social excursions. Mil was the quintessential child with exceptional athletic skills & respect. We offer our deepest sympathies & prayers to his family. I'm requesting Vic to reach out to me, Raul at Thor114@mail.com

My prayers for Mel's family and friends are going up today as I learn of Mel's passing. My brother Tom Bradley was a close friend of Mel's and Tom considered Mel a brother. On behalf of my brother, who is himself deceased, I extend his condolences to Mel's family. Mel and Tom were great buddies. They both will be greatly missed.

I knew him as Mil. He was my close friend and bandmate. An excellent musician, a great athlete and a kind, giving soul. Mil always brought a smile to everyone. It was impossible not to be happy when he was around.
He was always there for his friends in the best of times and in the worst. He was kindness personified. He wanted to make a difference and he did. He always wanted to help.
Goodbye my brother, you shined.

Mel, I didn't know if you knew I had a big crush on you when I was in the 7th grade and you the 8th when you asked me to go with you to the Sweethearts Ball. You were such a gentlemen, so sweet with all your kind words....and a great dancer!! I had a blast and have always remembered that special dance. I have a confession...my girlfriends and I would always "crank-call" you when we had our slumber parties!! lol I hope that puts a big smile on your face, the memory brings a smile to mine. ;)
Fly your wings you sweet man!! xoxo

I remember playing piano with Mel. He was so good. Or watching reruns of "The Twilight Zone" ... He knew the dialogue ... Then there was "sector 7G"
One day I sat in on his Psychology class ... He introduced me to his students as "Dr. Curiel, astrophysicist" what could I do? I had to play along.
Then he would take me to see the astronomy club's meetings to see the planets and star clusters ... thru His brother's hand built telescope, I saw the rings of Saturn!
I will miss my friend ... He was one of a kind ... God used all the good stuff to make him.
My heart felt sympathies to Mrs. Marin, and his brothers. May God grant you the strength and understanding to endure this terrible time .
