

Peter Gene Drosi November 13, 1919 - August 17, 2016 National City Peter Gene Drosi passed away peacefully at the age of 96. Affectionately known as "Uncle Pete" by his large family, he lived a long and fruitful life. Born in NY, he was part of the "Greatest Generation" proudly serving in WWII as a light machine gunner-paratrooper in the 503rd combat infantry regiment. He was awarded many medals including the Bronze Star. As a young man, Pete pursued all of his passions and became a Golden Glove boxer and a minor league baseball player. He later followed his family to California where he worked for 25 years at Pacific Bell. In retirement he enjoyed the casinos and playing the horses.
Pete is survived by his sister-in-law Mary Drosi, nephews Victor (Acey) and Paul (Ann), niece Belinda Vega, his many great and great-great-nieces and nephews and his wonderful caregivers Manny and Dominga. Viewing and Rosary will be held Aug. 24th between 5-9pm at Del Angel Humphrey, 753 Broadway, Chula Vista. Mass followed by burial will be held at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in National City at 10am on Aug. 25th follow by Burial at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery: 4470 Hilltop Dr., San Diego, CA.
