Priscila Genido Espineli was born on April 10, 1953, in Anabu, Imus, Cavite, Philippines, to Pio and Emilia Genido. After her father’s passing when she was nine, her mother, Lola Emily, lovingly raised Priscila and her four sisters—Luzviminda, Maria Sonita, Estelita, and the late Victoria—instilling in them strength, resilience, and love.
Priscila married the love of her life, Arturo Espineli, in 1976, when he came back after joining the United States Navy and took her with him to begin their lifelong journey. They were first stationed in Honolulu, Hawaii where they had their son Arcy, then to Long Beach, California where they had their daughter, Joanne. They then transferred duty stations back to Honolulu, HI, then to Norfolk, VA then finally to San Diego, CA – their last duty station and their forever home until they became grandparents and relocated to Murrieta, CA in 2014 to be closer to their grandchildren.
Priscila dedicated 35 years of service to the U.S. Department of Defense as a Military Pay Technician Supervisor for the Department of the Navy, stationed at PSD North Island Naval Base. She was affectionately known as “Mrs. E” or “Mama E,” serving as the heart of the office. Whether she was sharing her delicious home-cooked meals, helping young sailors navigate base life, or advocating tirelessly for their pay and entitlements, Priscila was a true champion for those she served.
Outside of work, Mama E cherished time with family and friends. She loved mahjong nights with her Joy Luck Club, road trips and karaoke nights with her sisters, and visiting her favorite casinos. She valued the friendships she built through her Biyak Biyak Family, Silang Cavite Association, and Imus Cavite Association. Her laughter, kindness, and love touched everyone around her.
After retiring in 2017, Priscila faced serious health challenges, undergoing heart surgery that resulted in complications. Despite being bed bound for eight years, she remained surrounded by love and care. Her devoted husband, Arturo, was her steadfast caregiver, ensuring her comfort and dignity throughout her long recovery.
In her final days, Priscila passed peacefully at home, surrounded by her family. Her loved ones take comfort in knowing that she is at rest and that their prayers were answered with a gentle and merciful farewell.
Priscila is survived by her beloved husband, Arturo Espineli; her son, Arcy Espineli, and his wife, Liza Amor; her daughter, Joanne Cuevas, and her husband, Anthony; her niece and adopted daughter, Sheila Marie Delos Santos, and her husband, Max; and her six cherished grandchildren: David Alfred Delos Santos, Ryla Amor Espineli, Alex Cyrell Espineli, Alan Jay Espineli, Priscila Ann Cuevas, and Artemus Cuevas.
Her love, strength, and joyful spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those who were blessed to know her.
