Ricardo Soto-Alvarado

April 30, 1930 - January 16, 2012

Ricardo was born in Arroyo Seco, Durango, Durango, Mexico as the 20th child of Esteban and Bernarda Soto. He is preceded in death by his parents and all 19 siblings. At 81 years old, he led a very full and active life working in Mexico and the United States. Working until he was 70 yrs. old, in a variety of jobs from ranching, farming, truck driver, cook, vineyards, factories, appearing in more then 100 Mexican and American movies, with John Wayne, Sidney Poitier, Harry Belafonte, Andres Garcia, and many more. His last job was as a House Painter with his sons in the United States.

He is survived by his wife and companion of 18 yrs Marilynne, 10 children and their families; Ricardo, Magdalena, Vicente, Juan, Maria, Miguel, Andrea, Celia, Guadalupe, and Marta; 3 Step-Children and their families - Michael, Adrian, and Autumn; 52 Grandchildren; 26 Great Grandchildren; many Nephews/Nieces and their families; plus countless friends.

He was loved and he loved. He will be missed by all, but will always be in our hearts.

Two Smiling Eyes

Two smiling eyes are sleeping,

Two busy hands are still.

The one we love so deeply

Is resting at God’s will.

May he always walk in sunshine,

God’s love around him glow.

For all the happiness he gave us,

Only a few will ever know.

It broke our hearts to lose him

But he did not go alone.

For part of us went with him

The day God called him home.
