Rita Jimenez, loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, tia, and friend peacefully passed away Tuesday, February 1, 2022, at her home in Chula Vista, CA at the age of 65. She was born in Brawley, CA on May 18, 1956.
She was one of five children born to Aristeo and Irene Lopez. Her siblings include Ralph, Rosie, Raymond, and the departed Raul. Rita graduated from Brawley Union Highschool in 1974. She was very athletic and quick on her feet. She was involved in the drill team, volleyball, and softball.
Rita was in a relationship with Chacho for 5 years before deciding to make it official and were married on November 11, 1995, making it a total of 32yrs together. Rita spent most of her adult life as a homemaker. She had a passion for crafting, making beautiful roses and flowers with her fabrics and ribbons. She loved gifting the crafts she made to family and friends. Rita and her grandchildren shared a very special bond, sharing past childhood stories, playing cards, coloring, and phone games.
Rita was preceded in death by her father; Aristeo Lopez (2000), brother, Raul Lopez (1978). Rita is survived by her mother, Irene; husband Chacho; her children: Jason Cook and Lauren Cook; her 4 grandchildren: Anthony, Rheanna, Isabella, and Diego. Also by her siblings: Ralph, Raymond, and Rosie(Marcos) Jimenez along with many family and friends.
Visitation, rosary, and prayer will take place at Funeraria del Angel Chula Vista on Tuesday, February 15, 2022, from 5 pm to 9 pm. Prayer and rosary will be recited at 7 pm. Mass will begin at 10 am on Wednesday, February 16, 2022, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in El Centro. Rita will have her final rest place at Evergreen Cemetery in El Centro, immediately following the mass.
