Our dad Robert Layfield MacLachlan was born on May 22, 1919, in Tucson Arizona to Kathryn MacLachlan. He was the second of 5 children and was raised in Oceanside California. He worked as a shoe salesman for his first job. He was drafted to the U.S. Army at Fort MacArthur in San Pedro, California. He served his country willingly and was awarded three medals.
In 1937 he was married to Dora Delci and was blessed with eight children, Gloria, Robert, Helen, MaryAnn, Ralph, Bill, Larry and Irene. In 1954 he was blessed with another son Wayne MacLachlan. In 1963, he met the beautiful young lady Petra Meza. They were married shortly after and he was blessed once again when Jesus and Norma were added to his family. He and Petra were blessed with three additional children Diana, Rebecca and Joseph.
The MacLachlan family came to the know the Lord, and on Feb. 2, 1986 and at the age of 66 he committed his life to Christ. He was baptized in Jesus name by Bro. Robert Dominguez under the pastorship of Rev. Frank Morales.
Our dad had a heart for others and enjoyed making people laugh. He was known for his friendliness and loved watching his western movies. His favorite color was blue and his favorite food was Mexican, to him a meal without refried beans and homemade flour tortillas was incomplete. He was a Mexican at heart.
At the age of 75 he retired from Kaiser Permante where he worked for many years. He continued attending National City Apostolic Church until his health permitted.
On November 24, 2011, Thanksgiving Day, he went home to be with the Lord. He is survived by his wife, Petra, 14 children, 39 grandchildren, 47 great grandchildren, and 2 great, great, grandchildren.
Our dad was upbeat and charming. He lived, He laughed and He loved.
Dad, you shall truly be missed.
