I had the privilege of being in Mr. Vigil's class in 11th grade at CPHS.  He was one of the few teachers that showed both compassion and discipline.  I recall the kindness in his eyes and voice and the life lesson I took away from my experience with him....  we can be kind to others, whether we are teaching, learning, or disagreeing.  

He was truly  someone who had influenced my life.

Prayers to you and your family. Mr. Vigil was a great teacher to us at Castle Park High School. Once in a while he'd cross my mind and I'd remember those days. He was charismatic and genuinely cared about his students. Always smooth and a sharp dresser. You will be missed, sir. May God Bless your soul.

I remember visiting your parents when I was little. They were always so kind, the sweetest people. I know your dad will be missed dearly.  I will keep you in my prayers.

I graduated from CPH in 1979. 43 years later I still remember Mr. Vigil. He was a wonderful instructor who really wanted us to learn. Thanks to his encouragement and faith in me, I made it to and through college. Rest in peace, Maestro Vigil. 💔

We met once, at the first Festival of Books. Eleanor told me he would be coming and to look out for him because he might need help. I didn't see him until he showed up at our literacy booth. I had written a column for the event, for a special section of The Union-Tribune. He brought it with him and asked me to autograph it. I've only been asked for my autograph twice in my life. It was an honor for me. He was grateful. It was clear to me that he was really enjoying himself on this day of books. He made it a point to be there. I'll never forget him. Later, I found out that we share a birthday. That made sense to me. We connected. God bless him. He was a good man. His soul announced his presence. I remember that.

The best grandpa a girl could ever ask for. Best memory is when he would let me help him grade papers and share his C&C cola with me. Our Sunday phone date were a must and I loved when he would say “You got it kid”  when I would tell him I’d call him next Sunday. He introduced me to the best rock band with horns Chicago!!!  love you PoPo, you are and always will be my love and my life my inspiration. Just You and Me!!!!❤️

Our deepest condolences 💐 to his family Vigil especially my Amiga Nettie ur Dad Mr. Vigil was  the greatest Teacher in my 🌎  a great Man, loving 🥰 caring patient, kind & love ❤️ by me & my bundle of joy & many of his Castle Park HS Trojan students. May he R.I.P. ✝️❤️🙏🏻😥 he will be dearly missed, but his memories would live in my heart ♥️ forever & ever until we meet again Amigo.
