

Roberto Luis Rodriguez was born on March 3, 1962 in Queens, New York. He lived in Laurelton, New York and moved to Crofton, MD in 1970. He graduated from Arundel Senior High School in 1980. He worked and attended college.
He was a retired United States Navy Chief Hospital Corpsman, who served fro 22 years. He joined the Navy in 1991. He attended boot camp at Great Lakes, IL. His first duty station was Naval Medical Center 1991-1993. His following duty stations were : US Marine Corps/ 1st FSR/ FSSG, Camp Pendleton from 1993-1996, USMC/ 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit, Camp Pendleton from 1994-1995, USMC/ 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit, Camp Pendleton from 1995-1996, Naval Medical Center San Diego from 1996-1999, Surface Force Independent Duty Corpsman School, San Diego from 1999-2000, Navy Support Facility, Diego Garcia from 2000-2001, USS Rentz (FFG-46) from 2001-2003, USS decatur (DDG-73) from 2003-2005, Naval Hospital Yokosuka, Japan from 2005-2008, USS Princeton (CG-59) from 2008-2010, US Marine Corps/ 25th Marine Regiment, Fort Devons, MA from 2010-2011, and Naval Medical Center, San Diego from 2011-2012. During his deployment to Africa, Roberto earned a Bachelors of Science in Health Sciences from George Washington University. Upon retiring, he continued his work as a Health Systems Specialist, (Physical Evaluation Board Liaison Officer). He was recently selected for a Government Service Position.
Roberto married Vanny Nuon- Rodriguez on July 23, 2005. During their twelve years together and eight years of marriage, they traveled the world. He lived life to the fullest and enjoyed experiencing other cultures though travel and cuisine. His hobbies were: playing his bass guitar, golf, music, dancing, traveling, and riding his motorcycle. He was always the life of the party and loved making others laugh. He loved the Navy. Roberto was a great mentor of junior sailors and took pride in their professional accomplishments. Frequently, sought out by many for his advice and guidance, he felt this was his calling. Roberto's legacy is his undying love and support for his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife Vanny and his children, Patrick O' Connell and Stephanie Rodriguez; his mother, Carmen; his brothers, Wilfredo and Enrique and his sister, Norma.
