

Ronald C. Garriott, age 77, died on Friday, March 23,2018 at his home in Chula Vista, CA, surrounded by family. He was born in Macon, Georgia to Virgil and Margaret (Renfroe) Garriott. He was the oldest of 3 children. Ronald is preceded in death by his parents and stepdaughter Jennifer.
At age 5, Ronald moved to Los Angeles, California with his family where his dad played baseball. He was the bat boy on his dad minor league team the Angels. He graduated from Gardenia High School.
After high school the “racing bug” bit Ron. The father and son racing team finished in 21st position in 1959; and in 1960 "rocketed into 9th spot" in the California Jalopy Association Championship.
He later joined the U.S. Army. After completing basic training, he went on to complete Airborne training, where he enjoyed jumping out of perfectly good airplanes. He was assigned to the 82nd Airborne Division where he proudly served.
Ronald is survived by his wife of 38 years Karen, his daughter Margaret and his sisters Barbara Juneau and Linda Rhoutsong.
Ronald will be remembered for his joy of life and his love for his family and friends. He will be greatly missed.
