born on February 26, 1961, in Tijuana, Mexico, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, August 9, 2026, surrounded by the love and presence of her family.
A woman of immense faith, love, and kindness, Rosa Maria was truly the heartbeat of her family. She had a gentle and beautiful soul, a warm heart, and a fierce love for those she held dear. She was known for her kindness, her joyful spirit, and her wonderful sense of adventure. She was always ready to have fun, make memories, and enjoy life alongside the people she loved most.
Rosa Maria’s life was a beautiful reflection of family, faith, culture, kindness, and devotion. Her presence brought comfort, laughter, and love to those around her, and she had a special way of making people feel welcomed and cared for.
In June 2025, after 33 years of dedicated service with the San Diego Unified School District, Rosa Maria retired alongside her best friend, Ernestina. Throughout her remarkable career, she was deeply loved by her work family and made a lasting and positive impact on countless students and families. She gave so much of herself in service to others, touching many lives through her compassion, dedication, and generous heart.
Above all else, Rosa Maria’s greatest joy and most treasured legacy was her family. She loved them deeply and wholeheartedly, and the love she poured into them will continue for generations to come.
Though she has left our sight, Rosa Maria’s spirit will forever remain a guiding light in the lives of those who knew and loved her. Her laughter, kindness, strength, faith, and unconditional love will live on in the countless memories she created and in the family she cherished so dearly.
She is survived by her loving husband, Juan R. Calderon; her daughter, Catalina Valenzuela; her sons, Juan D. Calderon and Adrian Calderon; and her eight beloved grandchildren, who will carry her memory, her love, and her legacy forward in all that they do.
Rosa Maria will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
