I feel blessed to have Tio Chava in my life. I’ve heard so many stories of him when he was young. However, my memories with him are of a strong, hard working, humble man, with a positive attitude. He was a genuinely happy man. He was always dedicated to his wife and children. I would say that the saying “home is where your heart is” would best describe him. His home is his heart, it is huge and loving just like him. It didn’t matter what time we went, or for what, or how long it had been since our last visit he always welcomed us with open arms a huge smile. Always happy to see us. He loved all his family. Just like his heart his home was always open for anyone, family or friend. As long as I can remember someone is always stopping by his house just to say hi to visit with him and his family. He was such a great dancer. I’ll never forget watching him dance “LA Vaca” every time Peter and I hear that song we think of him having a great time dancing. He knew how to dance. He had lots of dancing moves. I wish I would have asked him to teach me because I don’t know how. I wish he would have taught Peter because he doesn’t know how either. I love when Peter talks about his Tio Chava because he lights up and is so happy talking about his Tio, just smiling and laughing. I just want to say Thank you Tio Chava for all the beautiful memories you have left us with and every time we think of you we are going to smile and be happy, just like you. 

Hello all,

I’ve had the privilege and honor of knowing Chava since 1993. At the time, I was a 19 year old from LA who had just joined the Navy and was stationed close by the Magana family. Thanks to my brother Peter “Gonzo” Gonzalez, we all soon became acquainted and begun a lifetime friendship. Chava was a good Husband, Father, Grandfather, Uncle and friend. Chava and family were good to me and I will always cherish those memories. 

Las personas que queremos no se van nunca, se quedan con nosotros, todo el dia, todo el tiempo, en nuestra mente y en nuestro corazon y van donde vamos y vamos donde ellos van. Pero nunca mueren, viven siempre en nuestro recuerdo y en nuestro pensamiento.

I just want to say that Salvador will be in my heart forever.  I will never forget that man... he was a great man. The times Angelica one of his daughters whom is one of my best friend took me with her to Tijuana he took care of me like just one of his other daughters. That's just who he was a great DAD.
