

He was born in San Diego to Roman and Francisca Mena on December 6, 1988. He attended Point Loma High School and became a member of the San Diego Lobos Soccer Team. He also enjoyed playing other sports such as baseball, basketball and football. His love for athletic sports will be remembered by all who knew him. When not working or involved in sports he loved to hang out in Ocean Beach, soaking up his native San Diego sun. He also enjoyed his family, hanging out at home his younger brother and eating Mom's cooking, especially the Mole and rice she would make especially for him.
Samuel was predeceased by his father, Roman Mena in November of 2014. Surviving him is his mother, Francisca Mena and brother Gabriel Mena. In addition, he is survived by a large extended family of aunts, uncles and cousins not to mention the large circle of friends he had known since childhood.
A celebration of life and visitation service will be held on Wednesday, May 31, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at Funeraria Del Angel Humphrey, 753 Broadway, Chula Vista, California 91910. On Thursday, June 1, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. a funeral mass will be celebrated at his parish church, Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, 1770 Kearney Avenue, San Diego, California 92113. Interment will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery, 3751 Market Street. San Diego, California 92102.
