Sergio was born and raised in the San Diego area and graduated from Castle Park High School in Chula Vista in 1970. He served two years in the US Air Force as a weapons specialist during the Vietnam War. Following his time in the military, Sergio worked for several years in the field of audio engineering. At the age of 28, he joined the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department as a telecommunications technician, and retired in 2011 after almost 32 years of dedicated service. Sergio was a very caring, generous, easy-going, romantic soul who had a passion for all things science fiction and was a huge Star Trek fan. Although he had no siblings or children himself, Sergio was a cherished son to not only his beloved late mother but also to his aunts and uncles, a treasured brother to his many close cousins, and an adored uncle to their children. He will be greatly missed, but will live on in the hearts of all his family and friends.
