Born on February 24th, 1932, in Oneonta, New York. She lived in California for most of her adult life. Over the years, she has had many professions from Meter Maid to Street Sweeper to Dispatcher. Before she retired, she was an Aesthetician at her own business, Aesthetic Brow. In her senior years she had a small stint as a Senior Volunteer Patrol Officer for Chula Vista Police Department. Shirley was an active member of the Church of Most Precious Blood, where she was a lecturer. She loved reading, playing piano, card games, crocheting, sewing (she made clothes for her children and grandchildren), and her most frequent hobby which was more like a job as a historian was her passion for genealogy. She belonged to several genealogy groups. She was a loved and respected member in the community. She had a great sense of style. She will be remembered for her kind eyes, beautiful smile, and the love she had for everyone.
She is survived by her daughter Deborah (Becker) Lucero and her husband Albert Lucero, her son Dow Becker III and his wife Charlotte Becker, her son David Becker, and her son Darren Becker and his wife Bernadette Becker. She is also survived by several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and a great great granddaughter. Shirley was preceded in death first by her son, Duane Becker, then her husband Dow Becker Jr., and lastly, her daughter Danette (Becker) Mielak.
A memorial service will be held on August 27th, 2026, at 2 pm at Funeraria Del Angel 753 Broadway Chula Vista, CA 91910, followed by a viewing from 4 pm-8 pm She will be buried at a later date with her husband at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery.
