Tara Darcelle Ancar, beloved wife, mother, stepmother, sister, daughter, and friend, passed away on May 17, 2026, in San Jacinto, California, at the age of 40.
Born on November 16, 1985, in Alexandria, Louisiana, Tara lived a life marked by love, resilience, compassion, and devotion to those she cared about most. While she held many roles throughout her life, the ones she cherished most were being a wife, a mother, and a stepmother.
Tara was a proud graduate of Louisiana State University, earning her degree in 2008. She later worked as a middle school Spanish teacher. After moving from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, to Fort Worth, Texas, in 2018, she chose not to return to teaching and instead focused her time on her family, her home, and the people she loved most.
In 2012, Tara welcomed her daughter, Scarlett Rose Brice-Johnson, who became one of the greatest blessings of her life. She loved Scarlett deeply and unconditionally. In 2015, Tara met Mike, the man who would become her husband, best friend, and partner in life. Together they built a life rooted in love, loyalty, and family. They were married on September 19, 2020.
Tara was also a loving stepmother to Josiah Adriel Ancar, whom she welcomed into her heart and family. She took pride in helping create a home filled with warmth, encouragement, and love.
Outside of her family, Tara enjoyed reading, painting, doing her makeup and nails, and expressing herself through creativity. She appreciated life’s simple moments and found joy in spending time with those she loved.
Tara shared a special bond with her sisters, Tiffany King, Anna Breaux, and Emily Bodenheimer. She also maintained a loving relationship with her mother, Kimberly Stephens, and was grateful for the role her family played throughout her life.
Tara is survived by her loving husband, Orville Michael Ancar; her daughter, Scarlett Rose Brice-Johnson; her stepson, Josiah Adriel Ancar; her mother, Kimberly Stephens; her father, Christopher Brice; her grandmother, Vivian Joffrion; her sisters, Tiffany King, Anna Breaux, and Emily Bodenheimer; her sister in law, Dr. Nicole A. Abair; her brothers in law, Justin Hunter and Donch’e King; her niece, Tatyana Hunter; her nephews, Jordan King, Christian King, Shawn Hunter, Johnathan Hunter, David Hunter, Noah Austin, Kenan Austin, and Kole Austin; along with many extended family members, friends, and loved ones whose lives were forever touched by her kindness and love.
Though her time on earth was far too short, Tara’s impact was immeasurable. She will be remembered for her strength, compassion, sense of humor, creativity, and unwavering love for her family. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew her, in the lessons she taught, and in the love she leaves behind.
A Celebration of Life honoring Tara will be held on June 28, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at 753 Broadway, Chula Vista, California. Family and friends are invited to join in remembering and celebrating the beautiful life she lived. A gathering will follow at 1227 McKinley Avenue, National City, California.
