Teresita (Tessie) Salinas Kenworthy, 72, of Chula Vista, passed away peacefully at home, 3 p.m. PST, Saturday, June 5, 2021. She was born April 7, 1949, in Pinamihagan, Culaba, Philippines to Diograsia Ambilon and Francisca Salinas.
Tessie is survived by her husband of 46 years, Robert (Bob) E. Kenworthy, their son, Michael S. Kenworthy, her sons, Maximo Salinas and Mendrie Santos, and daughter, Maria Rydoell. She is also survived by her sister, Mila Emerick, and is loved and missed dearly by her grandchildren Mylee Rydoell, Vincent Roel P. Kenworthy and Samuel Maverick P. Kenworthy, and daughter-in-law, Honey Mae P. Kenworthy.
Tessie left the country in which she grew up to move to the United States of America in 1977, where she resided in Walnut Creek, Calif. with her husband, Robert E. Kenworthy, and son, Michael S. Kenworthy. They moved to San Diego, Calif. in 1979, where they were later joined by her son, Maximo Salinas. San Diego County is the place Tessie and Bob chose to put down roots and raise their children. Both Mendrie and Maria stayed in the Philippines, but she always kept them close to her heart.
Tessie worked for Sheraton San Diego Hotel & Marina for approximately 30 years, where she gained the trust and admiration of her coworkers and managers for her hard work and determination, but most of all, friendly disposition.
Tessie leaves behind a legacy of love. Her love for her husband, children, grandchildren, family and friends transcends time and space. She taught us to love with our whole heart, have compassion and be kind. She showed us the importance self-love and care, finding beauty all around us and living our best lives. Her determination and can-do attitude passed on to her wonderful children and beautiful grandchildren whom she helped mold. She had an infectious smile and contagious laugh that will forever be ingrained in our memories, and her love will be felt for eternity.
