Virginia Ardyce O'Donnell

July 4, 1929 – October 23, 2025
Obituary of Virginia Ardyce O'Donnell
IN THE CARE OF

Funeraria del Angel Chula Vista

Virginia “Miss Ginny” O’Donnell, age 96, passed away peacefully in Chula Vista, California. Born in Minneapolis, Minnesota in 1929 to Burton and Alma Steele, Virginia was a longtime resident of Chula Vista and a proud graduate of Sweetwater High School and Chula Vista Adult School.

Virginia is survived by her children, Scott, Cathleen (David), and Colleen (Richard), as well as her many grandchildren (Christy, Nathan, Micah, and Hannah) and great-grandchildren (Joshua and Abigail). She was preceded in death by her six siblings Clarence, Francis, Burton “Roy”, Donald, Vivian, and Arnold.

Known to her neighbors and friends as Miss Ginny, she was a devoted homemaker, a hard worker, and a woman of deep faith. She worked for many years at a local health food store and loved to share stories of her time working at the neighborhood preschool.

Virginia lived on K Street for more than fifty years, maintaining her home and garden with great pride and independence. Her hobbies included sewing, gardening, Bible study, and singing praise and worship. Her faith in the Holy Trinity guided her life, and she carried her Bible in her purse wherever she went.

She will be remembered for her discipline, sharp wit, and steadfast spirit. Miss Ginny was passionate about healthy living and lived her principles daily—eschewing alcohol, avoiding processed foods, and maintaining a healthy lifestyle well into her nineties.

Those who knew her will remember her as a spitfire, a faithful friend, and a caring neighbor who loved to talk, laugh, and share wisdom. She touched the lives of many, including the Hernandez family next door, with her kindness, reliability, and genuine concern for others.

Her life reminds us of the strength that comes from faith, discipline, and independence.
