God bless you Uncle Bob, you will be missed.

It is hard to find understanding and a sense of balance when someone in our life is suddenly gone, the sense of regret and loss is almost a betrayal, too much time is spent wondering, how could I have missed that, or not seen "that" coming...the "why's"...
But it is a blessing in disguise, when you come to realize, you, and they were spared the burden and sorrow of knowledge with no option to save, or salvage, or heal, or fix...
Uncle Bob spared all of us that, he allowed us to not have to deal with the inevitable, he saved us from having to stand by and watch him suffer and deteriorate with sickness.
Just remember, he did what he loved to do in his life, and he had integrity about himself and his dealings, he passed with dignity. No one pitied him because of his illness, he was not a great burden to anyone, and he didn't have to let anyone else take over in his stead...imagine for a learned man of great vigor, to lose your mind, not to insanity but to a cancer. 
He was a family man in the old sense of the word, in life, and in death.
He had an amazing strength of character, and a very deep sense of loyalty to his family, I would be proud to be his child. 
I'm proud to have had the chance to know him as I did. He had a soft spot for Darrell, his favorite nephew...which is how is how I came to know him. 
It's funny, he worried over Darrell's future still, grown as he is, and didn't ride him over the beard or long hair. 

God Bless you Uncle Bob, You will be missed, never forgotten.

Bob was more than a brother to me.  He looked after me since I was a little girl.  Bob advised me on life's little problems and always calling to see if I was okay.  He was a brother, friend and took the place as a father.  Bob was always there for me.  He was my hero.

Barton, family and friends, please know that you have colleagues and extended friends who are thinking about you during these moments.  I and my family are in that group.
