passed away peacefully on April 22, 2025. She was only 74 years old. Katie was born on June 27, 1950, in Portland, Or. Katie is survived by her son, Chad (Holly) Franklin of Nampa, Id. and daughter Holly Mescher of Yuba City, Ca.; and five grandchildren, Madysen (Thomas) Garrett, Carley (Royce) Mashburn, Katie Franklin, Caleb Franklin, and Zayden Birdwell. Along with three great-grandchildren, Jaxson Garrett, Sage
Mashburn, and baby Ayla Garrett is on the way. Katie also has an older sister, Heidi Bretz of Portland, Or.
Katie is preceded in death by her parents; John B Slusser and Helen P (Philbrook) Slusser; and her son - in law Daniel R. Mescher, Jr.
In light of services, the family will be laying Katie to rest in some of her favorite places; Lake Tahoe, Lincoln City, Or., and in Hawaii.
The family would like to wholeheartedly thank Suncrest Hospice along with Better At Home Care for taking such amazing care of our ‘Nana’ in her time of need.
