On April 20, 2016 Dorothy Louise Haynes, commonly known as "Dottie" blessed heaven with her presence at the age of 93. She leaves behind her beloved husband Ken of 69 fantastic years, her sons Errol "Dutch" Hauhe, Leonard Haynes & wife Jean, daughter Jacquelyn Haynes Jones, grandsons Matthew Haynes & wife Gena, Vance Klinke & wife Jenae and Eric Klinke. Granddaughter's Alecia Weston & husband William, Stacey Chappell and five great grandchildren Tanner Weston, Tyler Klinke, Dominic Haynes, Jeremy & Hannah Chappell, plus numerous nieces and nephews.
Ken & Dottie met in 1946 in Santa Ana, California during a taxi cab business transaction. After a few dinner and dancing dates they fell in love and moved to Richmond. In 1947 they married and moved to Sacramento, California where they made their home.
Dottie was a devoted mother and homemaker, she always looked perfect and was ready to go anywhere at any time. She had a wonderful personality and a beautiful smile, everyone who knew her - loved her. She helped out at the elementary schools and transported the kids to and from sporting activities. She had a few short term jobs outside the home, working as a server at the House of Shishabob and as a demonstrator for Faberware.
Ken & Dottie never lost their love for dance. They took various ballroom and country dance lessons and joined many clubs, some of which were the Midnighter's Dance Club and Seraban. They also joined the VFW, DAV, Moose, Elks and Mason Lodges where they put their lessons to good use and were referred to as the best dancers on the floor. In fact they danced every dance at Dottie's 90th birthday party.
Over the years the family enjoyed numerous camping, fishing, hunting and water skiing trips. The couple also loved to travel; starting in 1975 they drove their top loaded aluminum boat and trailer to meet friends every October thru November in Guaymas and every other November thru December in Mazatlan, Mexico for fishing and fun. This continued until 1987, when they set their new destination to Arizona and went every year until they sold their recreational vehicles in 2011. They also went on various cruises to the Bahamas, Mexico, Alaska, Hawaii, etc...
Their other past times were entertaining friends and playing cards. Dottie was always very lucky at cards and was playing "Skipbo" up until a week before she passed.
Dottie had a terrific life, loving husband, family and numerous friends. She will be missed terribly by one and all.
There will be a Celebration of Life in her honor on May 9th at the VFW Hall, 3300 U Street, Antelope, Ca. 95843 at 2:00 pm. In-lieu of flowers, please donate to the Dignity Health/Mercy Hospice
