

Karen Marie VanEgdon was born on April 11, 1948 to Leo and Leotta Zamastil in Sacramento, California. Karen passed away on Wednesday, November 3, 2021, at the age of 73.
Karen is predeceased by her loving husband David VanEgdon and younger brother Paul Zamastil. She is survived by her son, Gregory Dean, her stepdaughter Lisa Dean and stepson Jason VanEgdon and their families. She is also survived by her 6 grandchildren, Nicholas Friend, Makayla Friend, Alexis Friend, Payton Dean, Noah Dean, and Logan VanEgdon.
Karen was a long-time resident of Rio Linda, California and graduated from Rio Linda High School in 1966. Karen loved to travel with David in their motorhome and was part of the RV Club called Gold Panners. She was invested in her community and was an enthusiastic volunteer for many organizations like Blood Source and lead the Community Emergency response team for the California Energy Commission. She loved to spend time with her grandchildren and travel with them to places like Lego land, and Disney land. She enjoyed taking cruises with her friends and family and could often be found stretching her sea legs. She enjoyed porcelain dollmaking, ceramics and pretty much all craft type things. She could be found weekly with her beading friends creating jewelry. She loved cooking, fishing, and loved jigsaw puzzle assembly. She loved going to the Auburn raceway to watch Fast Fridays, motorcycle racing.
Karen was a loving wife, and irreplaceable mother. She was kind, generous and helpful. She could start a conversation with anyone, anywhere about anything. She will be tremendously missed by her friends and family.
