Hearing of my first cousin Leroy's passing I contacted my adult children and wrote the following:  Uncle Johnny"s son Leroy passed away today.  His age was around 74.  Not in good health in recent years.  He had a stroke sometime in last couple of days and passed on.  Leroy is eldest of all my first cousins.  He was a first first son, a first nephew and a first grandson.  To my children, I do not expect you to attend services, quite a distance to travel, although I want you to feel and have the awareness of how close a family may feel in contrast to those that do not.
Leroy was a good guy, always with a kind smile, yet sometimes challenged with different aspects of life.  I will miss him, yet keep " the very thought of him" always.
