It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of our cherished matriarch, Louise Jane Huddle, who graced our lives with her love, kindness, and unwavering joy for 94 remarkable years. She departed from this world on July 16th, 2023, at her home in Citrus Heights, CA, leaving behind a legacy that will forever remain etched in our hearts.
Born Louise Jane Vereschagin on February 9th, 1929 in Orland, CA to William and Irene Vereschagin. She would later meet Clarence Neldon Huddle at a roller skating rink in Chico, CA, get married, settle down in Citrus Heights, CA where she worked most of her adult life, and retired from Bank of America.
Louise is survived by her children, Anna (and Ron) Osborn, Sharon Huddle, Patricia Russell, James Huddle, Donna Stewart, and 11 grandchildren, many great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, and countless friends. Louise was preceded in death by her husband Clarence Huddle.
Louise Jane Huddle, affectionately known as "Grandma" to her family, was an extraordinary soul who had an immense capacity for love. Her gentle and warm nature endeared her to everyone she encountered, and she had a unique way of making each person feel seen and cherished. Grandma's love knew no boundaries; she held a special place in her heart for each family member and friend, touching countless lives with her selfless affection.
One of her greatest joys in life was her family, paying special attention and remembering every birthday. A devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, Grandma found pure delight in the laughter and happiness with her loved ones. She nurtured the bonds of family and no gathering was complete without her presence, and she had a special way of making each family member feel special and cherished.
Grandma had an array of passions that brought her immense joy throughout her life. She had a green thumb that seemed to turn any soil into a garden oasis. Spending hours tending to her flowers, plants, and trees brought her a sense of peace and fulfillment. The beauty she cultivated in her garden mirrored the beauty she sowed into the lives of those around her.
Grandma loved the thrill of roller skating, passing it down generations, and never gave up on her passion for dancing, spreading happiness and laughter wherever she went. Even in her later years, she continued to embrace the joy of movement, leading by example that age should never be a barrier to passion and enjoyment.
There is a rock in her garden with an inscription that brings this together well, it reads... "If you stumble - make it part of the dance."
Grandma also loved to spend time in her kitchen and it was a place of joy, where the aroma of freshly baked goods filled the air, and love was infused into every dish. From decadent cakes to warm, homemade cookies, her treats were more than just food; they were expressions of her love and care for her family. Once again, this was another passion passed on to many through one of her proudest accomplishments, her cookbook, and many recipes still made today.
But perhaps one of the most cherished memories we hold dear is the tradition of gathering around the table for a big family meal in celebration of anything and everything. Whether it was borscht cooked all day, cookies, cakes, to simple pleasures like homemade ranch or a plate full of fresh avocado, she brought us all together, not only to share a meal but also to share in family games and in each other's lives, creating memories that will forever be treasured.
Grandma's presence in our lives was a blessing, and her passing leaves a void that cannot be filled. Though we mourn her loss, we take comfort in the profound impact she had on all of us and the beautiful memories we share. Her love will forever be a reminder for us to be kind, cherish our family, and find joy in the simple pleasures of life. In our hearts, Grandma's legacy will live on, and we will strive to honor her memory by emulating the kindness, love, and joy she so freely gave to all.
Rest peacefully, dear Grandma, knowing that your love will forever be with us.
Funeral arrangements will be held at Reichert's Funeral Home at 7320 Auburn Blvd in Citrus Heights, CA, where family and friends will gather to celebrate the life of this incredible woman. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to The Petal Connection in Grandma's name.
With love and remembrance,
[All the family]
