He earned an associate degree as a Rate Analyst. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War from 1966-1968.

Paul is lovingly remembered and survived by his wife Frances of 51 years; sister Loretta; 3 sons David, Dewayne, John; 2 daughters Debbie, Jennifer; 9 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; 2 nephews; 5 nieces.
He was predeceased by his parents: father Larry Anderson, stepfather Anthony Chavez, mother Inez Defer; sister Vicki Howd; nephew Jimmy.
