Steven Craig Albonico was born on Thursday August 15th, 1968. He was raised by his mother Chelle Albonico and dad Philip Albonico. He lived his childhood among the dirt paths as Madera County California. He entered this world greeted by his older brother Kenneth. He was preceded in death by his Aunt Michelle Demree and his younger brother Michael Albonico.
Stevens school days brought many friends who remained close to Steve throughout his lifetime. He thanked his love of any Mexican food, to his friend Danny Rodarte and his cousin Jonathon Cortez. Steven spent many evenings at Danny’s house and he considered their household as his home away from home.
Curtis entered Steve's life when he was about 13 years old. While the boys lived on the ranch, they also enjoyed listening to rock n' roll, enjoying recreational hang out times and shooting everything and anything they wouldn't get in trouble for. In their defense, they were protecting the land. Many night were spent playing board games and outside games.
He spoke of his days riding truck with his dad. Some of his fondest memories are of his dad behind the wheel and Steven as his right hand guy.
His love for children began when he welcomed his little sister Sara Rose into the family. Despite their age difference, Steven was never too busy to play. He was the protective brother who cared for his baby sister. He was always the defender of her honor and protector of all things icky and scary.
Steven found himself joining the military in 1987 and he continued to serve through 1988. He was responsible for driving highly explosive materials and was considered one of the bravest men to perform such dangerous missions.
Steven married his first wife, Sandy Cornelison now Williams in 1990. They met while attending school in Madera. In their beginning, he worked for the county in the cemetery division.
Steven’s personality was greatly shaped by the influences and jobs he experienced. He spent over 10 years at the local cemetery, taking care of the grounds. Walking everyday to work and home for lunch, Steve soon found he was able to shed his excess by conquering a steep hill. This achieved goal gave Steve a needed morale boost which fed his new confidence. He enjoyed the cemetery work very much but hated having to see his community in their darkest hours. He overcame what most could not bring themselves to handle.
In 1994 Steven was devastated by the loss of his younger brother Michael Albonico. He admired Michael for his ability to talk to any girl he wanted, among other his many qualities. He said that Michael had a old soul and a heart of gold. God took him in the most peaceful manner possible, in his sleep.
Steven will be missed by many but none as much as his children. He fell in love with his neighbors children Matthew and James Domenici. He found himself wanting to play ball with the boys and be a kid. He felt like he could be a good mentor for them and he cared for them deeply. He couldn't’t help but to fall in love with their mother, Connie Berry soon after. Their love soon produced Stevens first child, his son Steven Michael in December of 1995. Then August of the following year he was blessed with Daniel Keith, the fourth boy in the home. They lived happily in Coarsegold CA for many years. The happy couple waited five more years before being blessed with their beautiful blue eyed baby girl, Gracie Taylor Michelle. Steven worked a few years at the Mountain Milk & Cream of Oakhurst. He loved being able to give the freshest milk products to his children. He loved sharing his fudgsicles and Cactus Coolers with the kids.
In 2003 Steven made his way to northern California and found himself alongside his brother Ken in Sacramento. It was only a matter of days until Ken ran into their childhood friend Jon Cortez at Ocean Fish and Chips. They picked up their friendship right where they left off. Jon was instrumental to Steve and his new journey, by guiding him to a full-time job. Things were falling into place as he enjoyed the work and being along his best friend again. He worked at Capitol Removal for approx 2 years.
After two months of living in Sac., he met his final love, Honey B. The two were inseparable and soon found themselves in a 4 bedroom home saying, "this is not my beautiful home, this is not my beautiful wife," jokingly. Steve welcomed into his heart, her child, Serene Marie and Damian Landers. Surrounded by children, love, laughter and fun was the constant roar you could hear from the street. The most memorable vacation of Steve’s life was spent in Bozeman MT. They shared a week of adrenaline fueling fun. He shot skeet; fly fished in the wee hours while watching the sunrise and he ate more than his share of fine cuisine and spirits. The highlight of his vacation was when his breath was taken away by the fall foliage of Yellowstone National Park.
Steven was the kind of guy you always could rely on. He worked hard and loved harder. He gave his everything to those around him. He was an amazing person with the biggest, kindest heart you could ever find. He awoke the same time everyday with a smile on his face and a new attitude for the day. He never missed his favorite shows Sunday Morning and Jeopardy. Steve was quick to relate a story of his past to his friends in hopes of making you laugh or perhaps learning something from a lesson he once faced. Those who were fortunate enough to know the inner Steve knew he was a true blue friend to the end. He would give to those in need and also to those he didn’t know. He loved nature and the forest as well as open fields and farmland. You typically would find Steve without a shirt and in his camo shorts. He was never one to paint himself to be more than he was. His heart was worn on his sleeve for all to enjoy. He will leave a hole in our hearts that cannot heal.
In memory of this magnificent man we will be celebrating his life at the Northminster Presbyterian Church on the 15th of February 2013 at 11 AM at 3235 Pope Ave Sacramento, CA 95821
