Veola Woodbury

Veola passed away after a long illness surrounded by family and friends. Born in Clarksville Texas to Esther and Thelma Heard. She is survived by her beloved husband of 59 years, Charles Joseph Sr., and their children, Charles Joseph Jr., and Cheryl Lynn Anderson (Glenn).

Charles and Veola married in 1953 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Veola is preceded in death by her father, Thelma, mother Esther V.; sisters Doris Jean, Imogene, Ruby, Thelma, Jeralene, and survived by her husband, children and grandchildren: DeVon, Charles Joseph 3rd, Charles Anderson Goodman, Holly Marie, Robert Glenn, Breanna and Laila; as well as her sisters Virgil Price, Hattie Wadley-Garmon and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Veola graduated from St. Joseph’s Nursing School LPN, then continued to Regina School of Nursing with Honors and became a RN. She practiced the Nursing profession for over 40 years. In the late 90s, Veola set up practice as a Marriage and Family Therapist in Sacramento. For 25 years she worked for Mercy Hospice Bereavement and Spiritual Support Services as a nurse and supervisor. She retired in 2000.

Her love for God, her family and her service and ministry to others was unconditional and full of compassion. She will be missed and always remembered.

A visitation will be held Thursday, July 12th 4:00-8:00 p.m., and a Memorial Service will be held Friday, July 13th at 11:00 a.m. at Reichert’s Funeral Home 7320 Auburn Citrus Heights, CA 95610 (916) 729-2229.
