After a long and full life, Vivian passed away surrounded by her family on April 19th. She is survived by Dr. Ralph Hoyt, her loving husband of 43 years, four daughters, Susan, Joyce, Jody and Kathy, sons Robert and Michael and youngest brother Michael Cosley of Spokane, WA . Between them Vivian and Ralph had 22 grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Vivian was born in Chicago, Illinois on April 20th, 1919 to John and Mary Cosley. She and her 4 brothers were raised in Illinois and Iowa. She later raised her children in Eagle Rock, Ca before moving to Manteca, to open Dr. Hoyt’s Chiropractic practice. There she was an active member of the Rotarian Inner wheel. After retirement, they moved to Diamond Springs.
She loved being with her big family and her favorite holiday was Thanksgiving when they would all gather for the week in Lake Tahoe to hang out and play board games. She was the champion Scrabble player.
Vivian was known for her sweet disposition and her ability to always see the “silver linings” in any situation. Even in later years when her health was diminishing, she maintained her positive attitude. She was an excellent artist and her cherished paintings are hanging in all of her children’s and grandchildren’s homes.
Funeral mass will be held at St. Joseph Marello Catholic Church in Granite Bay on Saturday May 4th at 1 PM.
In lieu of flowers, please make any donations to the "Wounded Warrior Project".
