Edward Conklin Serrano was born on July 9, 1955, to Francisco and Helen Serrano. He is survived by his wife Kay, his daughter Shawna Wong, the love of his life granddaughter Isabella, and his two siblings Patricia Serrano and Sylvia Moon,; proceeded in death by Alfred Serrano Sr and Evelyn Hagins. All the siblings were born in Santa Cruz, Manila, Philippines. Their father immigrated to San Francisco, California in 1960 and after two years, the family followed. Edward was seven years old when we reunited in San Francisco and resided on Clementina Street. Growing up in the Serrano household, you could smell the coffee brewing, the smell of bacon frying, hearing the mellow music coming from the radio, all the while Pop whistling the tune and Mom singing. The Serranos were always in tune with music, either watching American bandstand, Soul Train, Solid Gold on television, all which eventually influenced Edward. While growing up, we remember every Sunday after church driving around listening to music; and it was clear that music was to be a big part of Edward’s life. He began getting involved in playing the drums and singing during his junior and high school years. Edward started playing at the age of sixteen with Badwater Bridge and subquently with The Mellow Sounds, Sweet P, Pacific Islanders, Touch, Freelance, Axis, Passion, Bobby Webb and the Smooth Blues Band, Mr. Music and In The Mix. As someone who was both man and musician, Edward was a extremely passionate person who took joy in life, who laughed a lot and cried often, and who had a little temper at times, but by the time he finished, he just say “Se Ya Broham”... everything will be alright and always; while possessing an absolute love for his wife, daughter, family and friends. Throughout his life, he met many people through his music which brought joy and laughter to many needing comfort and seeking happiness.
