

Ronald Chu passed away peacefully on September 5 at Stanford Hospital in Palo Alto, CA. Ronald was born on November 23, 1957, to Annie and Huan-Tang Chu in Tainan, Taiwan. His family moved to San Francisco when he was six, where he grew up alongside his three older siblings. Ronald graduated from Lowell High School in 1975 and received bachelor’s degrees from San Francisco State University in math and computer science. He worked as an engineer at several tech companies across the Bay Area throughout his career, including Ascend Communications and Zhone Technologies. Aside from his exceptional programming abilities, Ronald could frequently be found fixing cars or tinkering with household appliances. He was also an avid outdoorsman, going on yearly camping or skiing trips with his friends. Ronald married Dan-Chu Yu in 2001. They had one son, Ryan.
Ronald is survived by his wife Dan-Chu, son Ryan, brother Robert, sisters Marion and Helen, and nieces Steph and Jennifer. A service will be held at 3:30PM on October 10 at the Redwood City Woman's Club.
