Rev, Aeron Oden, 86, formerly of Colorado City, went to be with his Lord and Savior in Abilene on Wednesday, January 9, 2019.
He was born on August 30, 1932 in Blackwell, Texas to Austin and Martha Moore Oden.
Aeron was a man who lived for his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. After he attended Seminary at an early age with his twin brother Marion, he was all about bringing people to Christ, saving souls, and baptizing. Before starting his career as a pastor, Aeron spent several years working at his Uncle Shorty’s feed store in Colorado City. He also spent a short time serving his country in the United States Army. On March 1st 1952 he married the love of his life Gladys Claxton and they spent 67 years of wedded bliss serving their Lord, raising their daughter, and spending as much time with the grandchildren as they could until her passing in 2018. His hobbies included praising his Lord and reading his Bible of which the Book of Romans was his favorite. He also worked at Dowell in Colorado City, and he pastored a church in Dunn, Texas for a long time.
Aeron is survived by his daughter Kathy Kennedy and husband Forrest of Abilene, by his grandchildren Jennifer Ritchey of Seattle Washington, Kristen Vian of Edmon Oklahoma, and Josh Ritchey of Stephenville, and by his great-grandchildren Carter, Gentry, Cohen, Clyne, Calum, and Autry. He is also survived by his brothers Marion Oden and wife Alice of Little Elm and Walter Oden of Tulsa Oklahoma, and by his sisters Jo Williams of Snyder, Maritha Bohall of Sweetwater, Sylvia Glassco of Arizona, and Wanda Frayley of Sweetwater, as well as by a brother-in-law Wayne Claxton and his wife Nell of Colorado City and a sister-in-law Juanice Claxton Peach of Frisco, and by many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife Gladys Oden, by an infant son Theron Oden, and by his brothers David Oden, Norman Oden, Sam Oden, and Jack Oden.
A funeral service will be held at the Kiker Seale Funeral Home on Saturday, January 12th at 11 am with Pastor Danny Williams from Snyder officiating.
