Silver, TX – Mrs. Amanda Wilkes, age 79. formerly of Silver, died Sunday morning May 27th. in a Snyder care center. Graveside services will be at 10 AM Wednesday in the McKenzieville Cemetery with Rick Sanchez and Mike McCabe officiating and Jim Clendennen providing fiddle music. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Kiker-Seale Funeral Home.
Mrs. Wilkes was born August 22, 1932 in Megargel, TX to Wylie Berry and Ethel Lorraine Frank Scoggin and had been a resident of Silver since 1955. She married Carroll Wilkes on May 29, 1954 in Robert Lee. He preceded her in death on December 14, 2005. She was the Postmaster in Silver for many years.
She is survived by 3 sons: Rick Wilkes of Big Spring, David and wife Debbie Wilkes of Perryton and Mike and wife Shery Wilkes of Ira; 6 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, 2 sisters and 2 brothers.
The family will receive friends 6-8 PM Tuesday at the funeral home.
