Anvil Bennett Mosher

Anvil Bennett “A.B.” Mosher, 90, Loraine, passed away peacefully at the Mitchell County Nursing and Rehabilitation Center of Colorado City on Sunday, April 8, 2018. A.B. was born in McAlester Oklahoma on April 3, 1928 to the late Phillip Henry and Effie Elizabeth Stewart Mosher A.B. was a simple man who took pride in family and in Country. He was proud to have served his country for a few years shortly after WWII and during the Korean Conflict. He loved to tell stories of his time jumping out of planes in the Pacific theatre and a little about his time in the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the 82nd Airborne Division of the Army and of the 3rd Armor Division A.K.A. Hell on Wheels, and did a short time as an M.P. before his Honorable Discharge. After his time in the military A.B. worked in the oil fields, local cotton fields and for the Sweetwater Cotton Oill Mill producing animial feed. In his spare time A.B. enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren whom he liked to tease. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, antique cars and watching Westerns, especially John Wayne. A.B. is survived by his loving wife Iva Mosher and by his children; Allen Mosher and wife Margie of Moran, Darrell Mosher of Abilene, Tommy Lee Mosher Sr. of Loraine, Anvil N. Mosher and wife Misty of Loriane, Lynn Maldonado of Snyder, Sue Bryan of Rotan, and Sally Ballard and husband Mike of Snyder. He is also survived by 2 sisters, Irene Mosher of Loraine, and Ester Hood and husband Norman of Bossier City Louisiana, as well as by several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, and he had one great-great-great grandchild on the way. He was preceded in death by his parents, and by his siblings Gus Mosher, Lester Mosher, Ted Mosher, J.W. Mosher, Ruth Williams, Elizabeth McWhorter, and Lois Aries. Several nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive. A graveside service for A.B. will be held on Wednesday, April 11th at 10 am in the Lone-Wolf Cemetery with Pastor Herb Roever officiating.
