Betty "Lou" Louise Garrett

Funeral services for Betty Louise “Lou” Garrett, age 77, of Colorado City will be held at New Life Bible Ministry Church officiated by James Williams in Colorado City on Sunday, February 25th at 3 pm. Family visitation will be from 1-3 pm prior to the service at the church. Lou, went to be with her Lord and Savior on February 21, 2018, surrounded by her loving family at UMC Lubbock. She was born on January 17, 1941 to Ernest and Flora Slater Self in Waldron, AR. Lou was a woman who believed that living life was about serving her Lord and raising her family with a strong faith and Christian values. In her younger years Lou learned the value of hard work. She left school at a young age to help tend to her siblings, working in the cotton fields and the laundry mat alongside her mom. Her belief in hard work helped her and numerous family members in rebuilding two houses into beautiful homes. Family was extremely important to Lou, she was a faithful loving wife, a great teacher to her children, a loving grandmother, and endearing sister making sure to stay in touch with her family in Arkansas weekly and often daily. Lou is survived by her a daughter Judy Kennedy and husband Don of Brownfield Tx, son Robert Meyer and wife Sandi of Slidell LA, and by her stepdaughters Pam Christopher of Oklahoma, Patricia Lang of Mineral Wells, and Sandie Campbell and husband Donnie of Mineral Wells. Also surviving are her 12 grandchildren, several great grandchildren, her sisters Irene Callahan, Pat Hunt and husband Dearl of Greenwood Arkansas, She is also survived by her aunts Onie Nelson, May Slater, sister in law Fay Vilhauer, brother in law Jerry Meyer and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her husband M.L. Garrett, a son Danny Lee Meyer, step-daughter Jody Zinsmeyer, and sister Betty Bishop.
