Brenda Sue Carpenter, 66, formerly of Colorado City, passed away at the hospital in Decatur Texas on December 2, 2018. She was born in Colorado City on September 17, 1952 to Deuane and Nadine Posten Carlson. Brenda was a God fearing woman who was all about the word love. She loved her God, she loved her family, and she loved all the friends that she made both in person and via social media. One of her favorite pass-times in recent years was to get onto Facebook to check in on all of her social media friends. Her big heart and love of people in general made it so that she had more friends than most and she was not a stranger to any of them. She was a woman with many passions in life and one who took advantage of all the beauty created by God. Often times when people were to be looking for her and she wasn’t shopping at Walmart, cooking, or working on some craft she would be outside admiring all the wildlife especially the birds. Throughout her life she owned hundreds of chickens and she loved feeding all sorts of birds just so she could watch them in all their glory. Her warm smile and words of encouragement will be missed by all who knew her. Brenda is survived by her daughter Andra Manning and husband James of Paradise, Texas, by a son Oren Ray Carpenter II of Colorado City, by her grandchildren Rebecca Carpenter, Caleb Chaney, and Elizabeth Carpenter, as well as by 2 great-grandchildren Nathan and Maddie. She was preceded in death by her husband Darrell in 2017, by her parents, and by her sisters Laverne Blassingame and Glenda Parmley. A funeral for Brenda will be held on Friday, December 7th at 10 am with Doctor Jerry Shields officiating at the First Baptist Church, burial will follow in the Colorado City Cemetery. The family will be present for a visitation on Thursday, December 6th from 6-8 pm at the Kiker Seale Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers please consider memorial contributions to the Mission in Colorado City or to the Animal Shelter. Those wishing may share a memory by visiting

This last year was an adjustment for us all, but we would not have traded this year we had you here with us in our home for anything. This time will always be treasured. Give Dad a hug for us. We love you both.

It is with a heavy heart that I extend my deepest condolences to Brenda's family and friends. Brenda was a gift from heaven who had a heart of gold. She had mailed me a beautiful wooden cross and made some doilies and holiday napkins and mailed those to me also. A small piece of her lives on in my home and in my heart. May our loving father wrap his arms around you all during this most difficult time. RIP sweet friend.

Mom was so proud her dad served.
