He was born in Loraine on July 24, 1957 to Ace and Mildred Carpenter Lee.
Mike was a quiet man who enjoyed living a peaceful simple life. He was a graduate of Loraine High, class of 1975 where he played football, was in band and showed steer. After graduating Valedictorian he attended Texas Tech until starting his life-long career with TxDot where he was a Design Specialist. In 2014 he decided it was time to settle down. While on a cruise he and the love of his life Melinda McCollum exchanged their vows. Once off the cruise ship they made their union official with the local J.P. In his spare time Mike enjoyed telling a good one-liner, playing the yearly Loraine home-coming golf tournament, watching sports, and other shows with his wife. He was a good brother, uncle, husband, and pet owner. He will be dearly missed.
Mike is survived by his wife Melinda Lee of Midland and her daughter Kelli Harrison and husband Brandon of Midland, grandchildren Boyce and Klint Harrison, his mother-in-law Joan McCollum of Midland, by sisters Sandra Dickard and husband Hall of Colorado City, and Jeanette McGowan of Midland, and by a sister-in-law Susan Solomon and husband Gene of San Angelo. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews Joni Haren, Kendra Dickard, Mindy Chamness, Shawn McGowan, and Lindsey Jobe, as well as by great Nephews Joshua Wollaston, Chance McGowan and Ethan Haren.
He was preceded in death by his parents Ace and Mildred Lee, by a sister Debbie Warren, and by a nephew Laval Umfress.
A graveside service for Mike will be held in the Loraine Cemetery on Wednesday, July 31st at 11 am with Geory Martin officiating.
