Born July 29, 1948, to Marion F. and Donna Lee Riley, Edward was a devoted husband, loving father, and respected pastor. He graduated from Caprock High School in Amarillo and attended Wayland Baptist University. On August 7, 1970, he married Karen Griffin, with whom he shared 55 years of love and companionship.
Edward dedicated his life to faith and service. He served as a Baptist pastor and spent 30 years as a prison chaplain for the State of Texas, offering guidance and support to countless individuals. He cherished his fellow pastors and the churches he served and attended, with a special fondness for First Baptist Church of Colorado City.
An avid sports fan, Edward loved baseball and softball—not only as a fan, but also as a clubhouse manager for the Amarillo Gold Sox and as an umpire. Later in life, he also enjoyed umpiring volleyball. He could often be found watching a college softball game or cheering at a high school football game. As a devoted father and grandfather, Edward rarely missed his kids’ and grandkids’ sporting events, band performances, or choir concerts.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, George.
Edward is survived by his beloved wife, Karen Riley; a son, Chris (Amber) Riley of Idalou, Texas; two daughters: Charity (Trey) Rose of Queen City, Texas, and Chesna (Daniel) Barcroft of Princeton, Texas; four grandchildren: Bryson (Tobie) Riley, Dawson (Brandon) Mailey, TJ Rose, and Bennett Edward Andrew Rose; 3 step-grandchildren: Nathan, Finley, and Caspian Barcroft; and one great-granddaughter, Ellie Riley. He is also survived by a sister, Ethel (Roger) Caldwell of Garland, Texas.
A service to honor Edward’s life will be held at FBC Colorado City on November 19, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to either the Baptist Student Ministry at South Plains College or the jail ministry at FBC Colorado City.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Kiker Seale Funeral Home
