

Eulalio “Larry” Q. Ornelas, age 86, of Colorado City went to be with the Lord on March 10, 2014. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, March 13, 2014 at 11 AM at Saint Ann’s Catholic Church with Father Michael Udegbunam officiating. Burial will follow in Mitchell County Cemetery under the care and direction of Kiker-Seale Funeral Home.
Eulalio was born on February 12, 1928 in Colorado City, TX to Matilde and Elena Ornelas. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army, where he served until 1948. He was a lifelong resident of Colorado City where he worked as a truck driver for Matlock. He married Cristela Garcia on November 6, 1949 and raised his own family in his hometown. He and his wife were blessed with many years together until Cristela passed away on February 15, 2010. He was a lifelong member of Saint Ann’s Catholic Church, and active in Veteran Affairs. Eulalio was affectionately known as “Papi” by all. He loved chatting with friends in Fuller’s and enjoyed his occasional, social gambling games.
Those left to cherish Papi’s memory, are his son, Gabriel Ornelas and wife Becky of Colorado City; daughters, Adelita Ceballos and husband Ernest of Colorado City, Alicia Moreno and husband Tanis of Colorado City, Armelinda Ornelas of Lubbock, and Amanda Carrisalez and husband Carlos of Big Spring; 19 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and 1 great great-grandchild; sister, Petra Torrez; and brother Speedy Ornelas and wife Golla; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Cristela; daughter, Angela Ornelas; grandson, Orlando Moreno; 5 brothers; and 1 sister.
Visitation will be held Tuesday and Wednesday, March 11th and 12th from 6 to 8 PM with the rosary beginning at 7 PM both evenings.
