He was born on February 6, 1933 in Cotulla, Texas to the late Ysidro and Guadalupe Gonzales.
Fred was a devout Catholic, who loved his God and family with all of his heart, despite being a long time member of the Grumpy Old Man Club. He worked very hard to provide for his family, and he was extremely generous when they needed help. Fred was a jokester at heart and somebody who could be counted on to be witty and sarcastic; a trait that he passed on to further generations. To call Fred a “Jack of all trades” was an understatement, as he loved to tinker and did not want anyone else touching his projects until he was finished. Other than tinkering on items that he found and wanted to fix, Fred enjoyed being outdoors, fishing, gardening, catching armadillos, and raising all sorts of farm animals over the years. He also enjoyed collecting a number of different items, watching Hannah Montana, eating donuts, and staying hydrated which consisted of his coffee once he became a grandpa. Fred instilled a lot of great life lessons to his family; the love he shared over the years left many great memories which will be handed down for years to come.
Fred is survived by his sons: Pedro Gonzales and wife Sandra of Fort Worth, Roy Gonzales and wife Norma of San Angelo, and Oscar Gonzales of San Angelo, by daughters: Janie Peacock and husband Johnny of Stanton, Lupe Robles and husband Johnny of Stanton and Paula Corona of San Angelo, as well as by 17 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and his beloved fur baby Bleu. He is also survived by brothers, Ysidro Gonzales Jr. of Colorado City, Robert Gonzales and wife Paula of Colorado City, as well as by several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Aurora Perez Gonzales, a grandson Travis Gonzales, brothers: Manuel Gonzales, Adain Gonzales, Guadalupe Gonzales, Ray Gonzales, and by sisters: Juanita Corona and Elisa Piedra.
