

Gary Lee (Buba) Swann of Colorado City passed away at his home on January 5, 2023. Buba was born January 6th, 1939 in Sweetwater, Texas to William Hunter Swann and Ola B Swann. He was a lifelong resident of Mitchell County and graduated from Colorado High School in 1957. Being put on the Renderbrook Spade Ranch payroll at the age of 14, after graduation he continued to ride for the Spade brand until he retired at age 67. As a true working cowboy, Buba enjoyed raising and breaking his own horses, riding cutting horses and team roping. Team roping was his biggest passion early in his life and was very successful winning many saddles and buckles. He also enjoyed varmint hunting, target shooting and bass fishing. He was a member of The First United Methodist Church. Buba was a true cowboy by trade and lived it with all of his heart, and from that he was loved by many in his community.
Buba is survived by his son, Coalen Lee Swann and wife Lisa of Midlothian, TX; son, Michael Swann of Colorado City, TX; daughter, Kristie Leah Pennington and husband Frankie of Big Spring, TX; daughter, Nikol Bolin-Proctor and husband Cade of Colorado City, TX; five grandsons, Cade Swann and wife Leah; Michael Neel and wife Amanda; Morgan Swann; Christopher Swann; Hudson Swann. One granddaughter, Kenna Swann; One great-granddaughter, Journey. He is also survived by his lifelong best friend Morris Hammond.
Proceeded in death by his mother Ola B (Giesler) and father Hunter; sisters Kay Marie Bridges & Joan Love; grandson Jeremiah Hart.
The family will have a celebration of life on January 21, 2023 at 2:00pm held at the Copper Press in Colorado City, TX.
